The 4L80E is the successor to the TH400. A 700R4 is in no way related. A TH400 was never "vacuum operated", nor was the 700 or 350, nor does the 400 or 700 have mechanical kickdowns. The 4L80E would be the correct choice, but will require the proper PCM to control it, assuming a gas engine.
